Why Packer Manufacturer Registration is Required?

If you are planning to sell or distribute pre-packed products in the market, it is mandatory to apply for Packer Manufacturer Registration. This application is made under Rule 27 of the Legal Metrology Packaged Commodities Rules, 2011, and must be submitted to the Director or Controller of Legal Metrology.

The registration enables businesses to regulate and distribute multiple products while complying with legal packaging norms. Every packer, manufacturer, or importer dealing with pre-packed goods is required to apply for this license at least 90 days before starting packaging activities.
